The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance collaboration on common goals and initiatives that aim to advance digital research infrastructure (DRI).

The Alliance and KISTI are dedicated to promoting the development and use of DRI that meets the complex and evolving needs of researchers, and to advancing progress in the global research ecosystem. This MOU will enable both organizations to support each other on common projects that benefit researchers in Canada, Korea and around the world.

Both organizations have identified an initial opportunity for collaboration with Lunaris, the Alliance’s national research data discovery service, and the KISTI discovery platform, DataON. The Lunaris metadata index will be harvested by the KISTI DataON platform, enabling greater research data discoverability and reuse. This initiative will support open science as well as the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) Principles for scientific data management and stewardship, and will open the door to further areas of collaboration.

The two-year MOU is effective from October 2023 to October 2025.
